Nasi Goreng

The tropical island of Bali is our next destination, where Nasi Goreng (Indonesian food speciality of fried rice with some fiery chillies) and tropical downpours make up part of the Balinese lifestyle, especially in January which is one of the wettest months of the year.  Arriving in the beach resort of Kuta it was pretty much as described in many of the books we had read, with lots of bars, restaurants and the usual western chains plus traffic.  It was fine for a few days stop with a nice beach but we decided to move on to Ubud, the land of the Balinese Spa.
